Summer is in full swing on 30A in July! The sun is hot, the Gulf is warm and those white sandy beaches are absolutely breathtaking. 

Whether you’re celebrating Independence Day, squeezing in a summer vacation before the kids go back to school, or enjoying a girls trip you’ve been planning for months, 30A in July is the place to be. Let us share all the fun things 30A in July has to offer!

July on 30A tends to bring large crowds as it’s one of the prime summer months. But not to worry—larger crowds means more fun, new friends and plenty of activities for everyone!

July is known to be one of the warmest months of the year, with average highs around 93° and average lows around 75°. But with warm temperatures come high UV indexes—for mastering your ideal tan! The Gulf temperatures average a balmy 83°F, making it ideal for swimming and water activities. 

Humidity levels are quite high in July, which can be a challenge for those sensitive to heat. Be sure to pack plenty of sunscreen—it’s a must-have for your visit!

We all know the saying “April showers bring May flowers,” but on 30A, that’s not quite the case. July actually brings the highest rainfall of the year. But don’t worry—your vacation won’t be a washout! Rain typically comes in the form of short, passing showers, often in the afternoon, leaving plenty of time to enjoy the beach and sunshine throughout the day.

Crab Hunting 

Have you ever been to the beach and seen families and kids running around with flashlights and wondered, “What are they doing?” They’re crab hunting! Ghost crabs are a fascinating sight to see after the sun sets on 30A. These little creatures can be found floating in the shallow waves along the shoreline or buried in holes on dry sand. Grab your flashlights and nets, and start hunting!

Did you know that you could have a bonfire on the sandy beaches of 30A? Well, now you do! 30A has several bonfire companies that will set up and break down your bonfire, provide s’mores, tables and chairs. All you need to do is grab your friends and family and head to the beach to create unforgettable memories. Who knows, you might even come up with a new campfire song and dance!

30A Dive and Snorkel Tours 

Spend a day with Dive30A and explore some of the most incredible reefs just off the shores of 30A. They offer snorkel and dive tours in Grayton and Inlet Beach that are perfect for the whole family! If you are feeling adventurous, be sure to check out their Dive Charter to the Underwater Museum of Art in Grayton which features artificial reefs created and placed by the Cultural Arts Alliance of South Walton and the South Walton Artificial Reef Association. These reefs provide essential biological replenishment and serve as protective marine habitats where none existed before!

Fourth of July on 30A

There is one event that 30A is known for in July–Independence Day!

If you have never experienced Independence Day on 30A, it’s an unmatched experience! Different communities along 30A host parades, celebrations and firework shows. As 30A locals, trust us when we say that the firework shows are something you do not want to miss! With fireworks lighting up the skies down the coast, it’s truly an unforgettable and absolutely breathtaking experience. Be sure to pack your red, white and blue and get ready for all of the excitement this wonderful holiday has to offer!

Chiringo is the best spot to grab a margarita or a Sully’s Kimchi Mary before heading to the beach. It’s also a great place to relax and enjoy a bite in their two-story open dining area while taking in the beach breeze. Their fried shrimp is some of the best we’ve had on 30A!

Old Florida Fish House boasts expansive indoor and outdoor dining areas looking over the Eastern Lake in Seagrove. Enjoy fresh seafood, sushi, daily specials, beautifully crafted cocktails and live music every night. For the adventurous diner, try the Tabletop Hot Stone Japanese A5 Wagyu. Cook it yourself for a truly unique experience! They tend to have a wait during peak season but not to worry, they have a large viewing deck of the lake and a dedicated kids play area with games and a space to run around!
