Guide to Visiting 30A in June

June is an ideal time of year to visit 30A which is a stunning stretch of coastline along Florida’s Gulf Coast that offers something special for every traveler.  Nestled between Destin to the west and Panama City Beach to the east, this 18-mile stretch known as the “Hamptons of the South” is a hidden gem that captures the essence of a perfect summer vacation.  June is commonly referred to as the “official start to high season” by South Walton locals which mean vacationers have full access to all the fun things to do on 30A.  The best restaurants, boutiques, community pools, splash pads, guide services, and more are all fully operational in June making it a great time to visit 30A!

As the summer sun reaches its peak in June, 30A’s pristine sugar-white sand beaches become a paradise for vacationers.  Days are longest in June meaning visitors have more time so wade in the crystal-clear saltwater.  Gulf Of America water temperatures in June along the coast of 30A are perfect for swimming, paddleboarding, fishing, and simply soaking up the sun. Each of the unique 30A beach communities – from Rosemary Beach to Seagrove Beach to Grayton Beach – offers its own distinct personality and pristine shoreline.

Plenty of Outdoor Adventures in June on 30ABiking the 30A trail.

June provides ideal weather conditions for exploring 30A’s natural beauty and one of the main ways vacation goers do that is via bikes. The area’s extensive network of paths winds through rare coastal dune lakes, coastal shrub forests, and picturesque neighborhoods. Hop on a beach cruiser bike and explore the scenic 30A Timpoochee trail, stopping at charming towns, local shops, and hidden beach access points along the way.

Exploring the rare coastal dune lakes of 30A is another popular activity in June.  Getting out on the water is easy as there are a bunch of great places to rent kayaks and standup Paddleboards on 30A.  Western Lake in Watercolor, Eastern Lake in Seagrove Beach, and Oyster Lake in Dune Allen Beach are all great options for those looking to explore!  Often times in June, the 30A coastal dune lakes open to the Gulf of America making it fun to park your kayak and enjoy the best of both worlds!  Lake Powell in Inlet Beach is the largest coastal dune lake in South Walton and offers easy access via Camp Helen State Park.  If you like to fish, Lake Powell is loaded with spotted seatrout, redfish, bass, and more!Explore 30A rare coastal dune lakes.

Speaking of fishing… You’ll find some of the most unique deep sea fishing charters along the Gulf coast in Grayton Beach.  It’s the only place I know of where boats are launched directly into the surf from the white sand beach.  The way it works is that you sit in the captains boat while it’s still on trailer and is backed straight into the Gulf.  I’ve personally fished all over the world and can honestly say doing a Grayton Beach fishing charter is one of the most unique things you’ll experience.  Also, the yield is typically fantastic a s you can expect to catch loads of red snapper, vermilion snapper, grouper, triple tail, king mackerel, and much more!  After a day on the water, make sure to walk over to The Red Bar and have a drink or three.

If you’re looking to hit the links you’ll find plenty of great options.  There are a ton of great 30A area golf courses for any level of handicap!  Some of my favorites include Santa Rosa Golf Club in Dune Allen Beach, the Raven Golf Club in Sandestin, and Legacy Golf Club in Panama City Beach.

The summer season brings 30A’s culinary scene to life. Open-air restaurants like Shunk Gulley Oyster Bar at Gulf Place and food trucks in Seaside serve up fresh seafood, barbeque , and refreshing summer Salty Dog cocktails.  Enjoy iconic waterfront dining spots like Bud & Alley’s in Seaside, where you can try everything from gourmet fish tacos to fresh-caught Gulf grouper while watching the sunset.  Another great outdoor dining option is Old Florida Fish House in Seagrove Beach.  It’s more than just a top 30A restaurant as the property includes local boutiques, a coffee shop, corn hole games, and stunning sunsets over Eastern Lake!

If you’re looking for top notch Surf and Turf, then head over to Restaurant Paradis in Rosemary Beach.  30Avenue in Inlet Beach has a bunch of great dining options so make sure to check that out as well!  It’s just across from Rosemary Beach.  Make sure to use the new pedestrian tunnel that goes under HWY 98 at Shades Bar & Grill and connects with 30Avenue on the other side!
