The global Coronavirus pandemic has changed so much in regards to how we function as a society. So many small businesses have suffered tremendously due to the shut-downs and stay at home orders. The restaurant industry has been one of the biggest casualties of COVID-19 which is why we feel it’s so important to do everything we can to help them get through this thing.
As I write this in August of 2020, signs of a turn around are apparent and most all restaurants on 30A (the ones that survived) are opened with limited dine-in capacity. However, just about all of them offer curbside pick-up which is a great option for vacationers and locals alike. Ordering take-out food is a great way to support the restaurant owners and employees so we’re all about sharing our list of favorite places on 30A to grab To-Go eats. Our list begins on the east end of South Walton in Inlet Beach and goes west from there so let’s get started…
Our Favorite Places to Grab Takeout along 30A and in South Walton
amici 30A Italian Kitchen located in Inlet Beach at 30Avenue offers online To-Go ordering which is so convenient. They’re open daily 11 am – 9 pm and their food is spectacular. Living in Inlet Beach, it’s our “Go To” spot when we want to treat ourselves to a great meal. Amy’s amici 30A Meatballs are to die for as are their Brussels Sprouts small plates. Pizza lovers will rejoice when they see the many authentic Italian options available. Some of my favorite amici 30A pastas include Rigatoni Bolognese and Geo’s Lasagna. If you’re staying in Rosemary Beach, Inlet Beach, Seacrest Beach or Alys Beach amici 30A Italian Kitchen is just minutes away and is a great place to grab takeout. Shades Bar & Grill in Inlet Beach is a great option for takeout because their menu has something for everyone in your group. Also, they make it so easy to order your food online via their website Shades30a.com. Shades is open for lunch and dinner and their menu includes classic American style food, burgers, nachos, sushi and some of the best wings in the area! If you’re vacationing in South Walton the week of Thanksgiving, make sure to grab a famous Shades Bar & Grill Fried Turkey to-go! It’s the only true sports bar in South Walton with big screen TVs throughout the restaurant. The daily drink specials at Shades are awesome so make sure to grab a cold one when you pick up your food.
With locations in Seacrest Beach, WaterColor, Gulf Place and Sandestin, Pizza By The Sea is one of the best food spots to grab takeout on 30A. In addition to really good pies they also have tasty sandwiches (Meatball Sub is my favorite), Yum Bowls (kickin’ Chicken is my favorite), Pastas, salads and more. They even have a kids menu which makes it a perfect place for families to grab takeout in South Walton.
The Hub 30A is a terrific To-Go food option located next to WaterSound. It offers a wide variety of takeout options some of which include DUOS All-American Eats, Local Smoke BBQ, Buddy’s Seafood Market, Macho Taco and Sauce it 30A brick oven pizza. The Hub 30A makes it easy to order online and make sure to grab a drink (or 2) at their outdoor bar when you pick up your dinner!
Modica Market in Seaside is a great place to grab deli styles sandwiches to go. They have tasty cheese, pastas, salads, deserts, beer, wines and much more. Modica Market is located in Central Square and is a one-stop-30A-takeout-shop. Grab your lunch meat, bread, snacks and cold beverages at Modica Market before heading to the beach.
Publix in WaterColor makes some of the best sub-sandwiches I’ve had anywhere in South Walton and the United States for that matter. My favorite is the chicken tender sub but they’re all delicious. A 12 incher is about $7.50 and is the equivalent of 2 full meals. So the portion size, quality (Boar’s Head meat) and taste of a WaterColor Publix sub sandwich cannot be beat. Just make sure to call your order in as they do tend to get busy.
Seagrove Village Market is one of the original food spots on 30A dating all the way back to 1949! They have a great To-Go lunch and dinner menu that includes grouper baskets, fish tacos, fried oysters, Po-Boys, Burgers and much more! Fish Out of Water in WaterColor offers to-go dining services from 8 am to 10 pm. Serving Southern style breakfast, lunch and dinner, FOOW is a favorite 30A food spot in the hearts of many people. Their “WaterColor Omlet” paired with a “Deep South Biscuit” makes my mouth water just thinking of it! Some other Fish Out Of Water menu items include; Shrimp & Grits, Grouper Tacos, Loaded BLT, Grilled Shrimp Salad Sliders and much more. If you’re in South Walton during the Holiday season, FOOW usually puts on a fantastic Christmas and New Year’s Eve dinner so check that out. Blue Mabel in Blue Mountain Beach offers curbside pick-up. Fall off the bone smoked meats, wood grilled rib eye nachos, brisket tacos, wings, salads, burgers and much more. Johnny McTighes Iris Pub in Blue Mountain Beach has some of the best pizza on 30A. It’s a favorite locals food spot that is super underrated among vacationers which means you’ll get your food fast. In addition to great pizza they have tasty sandwiches, appetizers, cold beer and much more. Johnny McTighes Irish Pub is a great place to grab takeout on 30A especially for large families and/or groups. The food is great, you get a lot and the price is extremely reasonable for South Walton.
Shunk Gulley Oyster Bar located next door to Gulf Place 30A is a fantastic spot to grab takeout! In addition to a large selection of oysters, they’re menu includes salads, soups, appetizers (Tuna Poke is my favorite), Gulf Sandwiches, Grouper, Burgers, Baskets and more.
